Why are we launching Save with Solar?
The UK needs more homes generating clean electricity.
A smarter, more flexible energy grid depends on more households being able to generate, store and, where appropriate, sell surplus energy back to the grid. This helps the planet, strengthens the resilience of the energy network and helps homeowners reduce their bills.
But homeowners have largely been expected to do all the research, find trustworthy providers, choose the right setup and take on the financial risk of a major installation themselves. When the wider system stands to benefit, that risk should not sit solely with individual households.
Energy Saver App's Save with Solar scheme has been designed to remove that barrier, making it easier and lower-risk for more homes to take part in the transition to cleaner energy.
How will we be able to offer this with no upfront cost?
Save with Solar is able to fund the solar panels, battery and installation at the start because the investment is recovered gradually through the monthly subscription over time.
This means homeowners do not need to take on the financial risk of paying thousands upfront for a major installation.
Before any proposal is made, the Energy Saver App uses real home energy data to assess whether solar is likely to deliver a meaningful saving for that property.
This approach is built on confidence that, for suitable homes, the long-term savings will outweigh the monthly fee on average across the year - helping residents reduce bills without taking on the upfront risk themselves.
